The team were efficient and hardworking. The owner Kev was knowlegable and our contact was friendly and helpful. He regularly checked in with his team to ensure that all was on track. Kev and his team were hardworking, courteous and did a great job. Contact was kept throughout via calls and texts. When a question came up about structural calculations, Kev called our structural engineer (the one who provided the plan and specs) and got it sorted out before requiring me to do anything. I was very pleased that quote, which was obviously an "estimate", was kept to and the price and work were exactly as we had hoped for when taking Rainbow on. Rainbow services were very good at all stages of the works - from the initial discussions to the completion. There were a few of the usual "negotiations" over quality/ spec. but these were resolved amicably. Kev Viney, owner of this company has twice asked for feedback from me, so here goes!
My RCD was tripping intermittently over a period of 3 to 4 days (15yr old house) and needed investigating.
Additional work requested by me :
Disconnect and remove old internal alarm panel (have now gone wireless).
Disconnect external bank of lights from main circuit.
Additional works carried out by electrician :
Re connect earth wire below sink.
Switch over x1 20 amp with x1 32 amp on main switchboard.
Advise? Don't use washing machine/dish washer/shower and boiler at the same time.
Have a comprehensive electrics test carried out on the entire property.
Replace the fuse board for a metal one, it's the law!
Later that afternoon the RCD tripped again, no appliances in use. Hasn't tripped since?
Payment Options :
Â£150 cash now, or wait for VAT bill.
Bill arrives, Â£200 plus Â£40 vat, total Â£240.
As I explained to Kev Viney, owner of Rainbow Building & Electrical Services, I may well be out of touch with electrician's charges, but Â£200 for less than an hours attendance (no new parts used) is hugely extortionate. He has declined to comment?
Note to self :
Avoid Rainbow Building & Electrical Services for ALL future works.
Always get a minimum of x3 quotes.

These are unreasonable comments. Rainbow diagnosed and fixed the RCD tripping in the fuse box the same day. This was caused by the owner employing a previous Electrician, who had created this fault on the power circuit. The property had never been tested since 2002 and we recommended, the new regulation law as of April 2017, that all plastic fuse boxes should be removed and replaced with metal when testing and inspecting circuits and providing periodic test/electrical certificates. We were asked to attend the original fault and then asked to carry out several other electrical works. The client only complained about the fee after he had paid the posted invoiced bill and once the work was completed successfully. He apparently emailed Rainbow to say he was not happy with the price. The email was never received. Subsequently, he went straight to Checkatrade. It was at this time that I was made aware of his dissatisfaction over the price, but not the workmanship. Rainbow requested an immediate site meeting to resolve the financial grievance. The client declined. Rainbow has refunded £150 (£200 plus VAT

A great experience with a well-managed, highly-skilled team. Our old kitchen was in a terrible state and needed considerable work to bring it up to scratch - Kev and his team did a fantastic job and we couldn't be happier with the outcome.
