I contracted the company to undertake additional work to the main job (described in my earlier feedback). The additional work was to relay a section of block paving and replace some aging and poorly installed UPVC windows and doors - all of which was estimated for, came in within budget, and was completed to a high standard. With time and money to spare, I was in a position to ask the Littlejohns to attended to various smaller jobs. Homecare Building & Maintenance is a small family company recommended to me by David Challoner, who prepared the plans required by the local council for the conversion of a garage and small workshop to a kitchen/utility/dining room plus lobby. The two hands-on directors of the company, Peter and John Littlejohn, have long experience in the building trade. Where necessary, they used the services of two bricklayers, an electrician and a heating engineer - men whose quality of work they knew they could rely on. Pete, John and Sam are friendly, reliable, hard working and able to turn their hand to almost anything. They were happy to construct hidden beams in our kitchen, which other builders were unprepared to do; this allowed us to plan the space as we wished and it now looks great. They also dealt with difficult situations efficiently and without panic such as when they replaced the double glazing of our substantial patio window in our living room in the middle of winter. Unfortunately the frame crumbled away (because it was rotten) when they took the existing single pane out. They ended up having to reconstruct the substantial window from scratch in one day at no notice and without any of the materials to hand. This they did even though it required them to work in freezing temperatures late in to the evening to make the house air tight. We are happy with their work and would use them again.
