We used the Summer Special Car Park as part of a Stay and Park deal with the Premier Inn based at Gatwick and left our car with Summer Special for 13 days whilst me and my wife went on honeymoon.
We returned to the car to find that whilst we had been away the drivers car seat had been ripped. I reported it at the time to the manager who gave me details of who to make a complaint to.
I emailed the email address with details of my complaint and very quickly had a reply stating that they would take no responsibility for my ripped car seat despite it not being in that condition when I left the car.
I have since done research and found other people with similar situations where their cars have not been looked after at the Summer Special car park whilst they went on holiday. In fact my wife tells me that whilst I was in the office at the car park making a complaint members of the car parking staff were driving a Jaguar car around the car park at high speeds.
The whole experience has struck me as not being very professional and I would never use it again. I believe an investigation into the treatment of vehicles held in their position is warranted.
SUPPLEMENTARY COMMENTS ADDED BY WEST SUSSEX TRADING STANDARDS
West Sussex Trading Standards (who operate the Buy With Confidence scheme in West Sussex) have contacted Gatwick Airport Limited and an investigation has been carried out.
Gatwick Airport have indicated that issues such as those raised here are taken very seriously, and the above matter has been looked into thoroughly.
Since this incident took place Gatwick Airport have a new car parking operator and hope occurrences similar to this will not happen in the future. (Reviewed May 2015)
