. I employed Alba Plumbing to replace a heated towel rail in my bathroom with a radiator to give more heat.
. I was quoted £400+ for the job.
. I thought all had gone well when I completed the original form. .
Luckily, I didn't post this form.
. Next morning, no difference in temperature - same as the heated towel rail.
. Ray came back and took the valve off the radiator, so it was always hot.
. No change.
. I also asked him to replace a flash valve washer in the cistern whilst he was here. He charged me £68.96 for a few minutes work - he
said there was the journey time. However, he was working down the road and had come here to assess the radiator hear. So there was no travel
time.
. When he replaced the radiator for the towel rail, he put the towel rail in his van. I told him to remove it as I thought it may be used
elsewhere. Why would he take it? To sell or use for someone else?
. I've since found out from another qualified Gas Safe engineer (who came to inspect the boiler) the job didn't involve a day's work
draining the central heating system etc. Probably £100+ in labour and the cost of the radiator.
. I am now in the process of buying a double radiator, to replace the single, and employ someone else to do the job.
. I don't doubt Ray's ability to do a job. However, I seriously question what he charges.
. If only I had gone for another quote, I could have saved hundreds of pounds. Money not easily found as I am on my own and I only have a
small income.
. This job took much consideration and I feel I've wasted hundreds of pounds.
. I'm a dissatisfied customer

We are disappointed to receive the feedback left by this customer. The customer accepted an estimate for a new radiator. As the pipe work had to be adjusted, it is best practice to drain the system, which we did. The system wasn't working correctly and we had to rectify the problem which added time on to the day's work. We believe we carried out the job in line with best practice in the industry. Regarding the old towel rail, we apologise that we did not discuss this with the customer, but this is normal practice. We went back to the customer’s property, after the customer stated the radiator was not heating up as it should. Whilst at the property, the customer asked us to look at their toilet (separate issue), we carried out the required work and the customer was invoiced accordingly. We apologise for any disappointment felt by the customer, however, we feel that we have been clear and transparent in our communication; we are disappointed that we weren't permitted the opportunity to rectify the situation (Reviewed January 2022)

New Bathroom fitting: Could not recommend enough. Ray took the time to understand our requirements and provided helpful suggestions as we tried to cram in our walk in shower and separate bath in our small bathroom.

Ray worked with an amazing attention to detail, taking time not to just get the plumbing in but to tidy up and remediate old pipework to ensure the greatest reliability for our works.

In order to complete the project we required additional trades (electrics, tiling, plastering, flooring) who Ray recommended and co-ordinated and they maintained his level of quality and finish.

Work was completed within time and budget.

I have used Alba Plumbing for a number of years and Ray always provides excellent service and cleans/tidies up afterwards very well indeed. This time he fitted a heated towel rail and checked with me at all the key points and explained what he was doing. We discovered some chipped/bloken tiles behind the orginal fittings (radiator) and after some discussion, Ray managed to make good the damage in a way which means even I can't spot the problem and I know it's there! We have had two pieces of work carried out by Ray, replacing old radiators and installing TRV thermostats on to all radiators to control our heating and hot water system.
The most recent work was finally completing our bathroom renovation. Ray has completed this to a superb standard, he ensured we knew exactly what he was doing and why he was doing it throughout the whole process and wanted to make sure it looked good rather than just being practical. Ray recommended a local plasterer and tiler he knows to do the job alongside him which saved us doing this research ourselves and they too were brilliant. Fitted replacement fill/flush valves to close-coupled wc and installed isolation valve on inlet pipe. Excellent result putting right incorrect fittings used in the past. Addition of an isolation valve very useful and achieved despite tight space constraints. Slightly mucky job due to deterioration of old fittings, but minimal mess left behind.
