What is Buy With Confidence +Care?
While the Buy With Confidence trader approval scheme admits nearly all types of businesses if they are able to satisfy our strict vetting procedures, we recognised that there are certain types of businesses where in order to maintain and promote consumer confidence, it is important to check more than the Trading Standards aspects of the organisation.
Buy With Confidence +Care extends the scheme to cover the adult social care sector, with extra layers of checks done on businesses by Adult Social Services. This helps ensure that people know that any business displaying the Buy With Confidence +Care logo has shown both its commitment to trading fairly and has satisfied Adult Social Services as to their legitimacy.
Every business listed has undergone a series of detailed checks by professionally qualified trading standards and adult social services staff before being approved as a member of the scheme.
As the scheme is very new, it is not yet available in all areas of the country, please check whether your local area is participating by checking our map.
If Buy With Confidence +Care is not run in your area you may still be eligible to join – please contact us to discuss your application.
Buy With Confidence +Care is run through the partnership of Trading Standards and Adult Social Services. We consider that Trading Standards and Adult Social Services have the correct expertise and motivation to offer a scheme which offers genuine benefits to consumers and businesses. Accordingly, the Buy With Confidence +Care scheme is administered by local authorities directly, and is not outsourced.
In order to become a Buy With Confidence +Care member, a business must first apply or be recommended to join the scheme and must then pass a set of tailored background checks. Membership of the scheme is not given lightly – amongst other checks, each applicant will have their complaints history reviewed and will receive a visit from Adult Social Services and Trading Standards. Good references are required from previous customers and applicants must agree to abide by the scheme’s code of conduct, which requires them to follow the letter and spirit of the law.
Only if all the scheme requirements are met, will a business be granted membership, and their conduct will continue to be monitored thereafter. We cannot promise that Buy With Confidence +Care members’ work will be perfect every time, but we do expect any problems to be dealt with fairly, and you can turn to Adult Social Services for advice in the event of an unresolved issue.
