Working with the Buy With Confidence Scheme
The Buy With Confidence Scheme is operated by participating Trading Standards Services and is not outsourced. The scheme is proud to be independent and is driven by Trading Standards' objectives to protect consumers and encourage the success of fair dealing businesses in the local area.
Buy With Confidence is always pleased to hear from like-minded organisations which consider they may be able to contribute to the success of the scheme through cooperative working, however, it should be noted that Buy With Confidence will not generally entertain any form of mutual endorsement. In particular, relationships based on promotional claims to 'support', 'endorse' or be 'working in association with' the scheme (or other similar expressions) are not available.
Trade Associations
Buy With Confidence business listings can indicate membership of some Regulators and competency bodies. Memberships are only listed where the membership may relate to a legal requirement (for example, work on gas appliances is an activity controlled under statute and administered by Gas Safe - or for glazing services, FENSA registration facilitates notifications under part L of the Building Regulations).
Trade Associations or membership organisations which do not have a function based on legal requirement are not listed. If you are a Trade Association which does not have a regulatory function, but which has a significant positive influence on your trade sector, you may wish to learn more about the Consumer Codes Approval Scheme which is operated by the Office of Fair Trading.
